When the device that the 371 battery powers is turned on, an electrical circuit is created between the two electrodes which cause a chemical reaction to occur. When the battery is not being used, the electrodes are not in contact with each other. These materials are separated by an electrolyte solution made of lithium salts. The 371 battery has two electrodes, a positive electrode made of lithium metal, and a negative electrode made of manganese dioxide. It measures about 7mm in diameter and 5mm tall. The 371 battery is one of the most common button cell batteries because it provides a good amount of power for its size.
