Soulless pacifist run undertale music12/3/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() gets at that sense of haunting in another way, with the famous question: "Don't you have anything better to do?" We get most of the notes, but not the music-quite literally, in fact, because #Undertale is a game woven from music.Īnd I feel like the "soulless pacifist" route is intended to be a sort of onscreen analogy to the real-life feeling of being _haunted_ by #Undertale. furnished us, is deliberately intended to leave us feeling empty and unfulfilled-like a sort of *parody*, almost, of the luminous "pacifist" route. I further conjecture that the "soulless pacifist" route, the sequel to the #Undertale "no mercy" route that Mx. Hence, "no mercy" #Undertale has a _sequel_. "our" Frisk, my sibling and headmate in the Pnictogen Wing, was *really* traumatized and fearful to start with, so. it's not *reasonable* to expect that they'd stop killing. ![]() once Frisk does the obvious thing and kills her, they emerge into a hostile place with fresh dangers. Toriel can be construed, legitimately, as threatening. It's the most like what we can expect to happen if an abused human child (good at video games) fell into a strange place full of Monsters that turned to dust with one good stab. The observation is that the #Undertale "no mercy" run is the _most honest_. My next observation is this-it's not mine, but I agree with it, however-I agree with it completely. Fox created the #Undertale "no mercy" route with this in mind. surely knew this, and therefore it's sensible to guess that Mx. #gamers, in general, are devoted to mastery of killing enemies in video games. but I'm not here to make that argument I'm here simply to make an observation about #gamers. it's arguable that furnishing such means for "virtual murder" are _socially beneficial_. endless slaughter and butchery of imaginary or virtual persons, animals, monsters, gods, demons-anything that can be given an artificial life of sorts. choosing one thing, and doing it to the exclusion of all others, is the essence of determination that "one thing" can be anything.įor much of that #gamingcommunity, the "one thing" is murder. it's not a good or a bad thing to be determined one can be determined in good or bad causes. they knew what sort of people would be playing their new game. Fox knew that putting a "no mercy" route of *some sort*, in #Undertale, was _necessary_. I can only make inferences from the outside. Throw a rock at the #gamingcommunity, you'll hit someone more determined than me. we're old, uncoöordinated, bad at games.and we are *squeamish*. One must have, dare I say it, superior _determination_ to excel at such gameplay. the FIGHTs are orders of magnitude greater in difficulty than any "pacifist" FIGHT. ![]() nor have we ever seen a recording of it that was not massively edited down. Our system has never gotten far into the "no mercy" #Undertale route. one must play the game in a very deliberately repetitive fashion in order to set the "no mercy" #Undertale route going in the first place-somehow I'm to blame for that. Toby Fox intended the "no mercy" route to be extremely unpleasant and protracted. I must approach these things at my own speed, in my own way.Ĭan we come to any generally acceptable inferences? it's all too personal and therefore too *painful* for me. The #Undertale fandom has probably debated all this endlessly. that's an artist's right-no artist is obliged to explain their own work. Fox, wisely, keeps their own counsel in this matter. It has to do with what one can only *conjecture* about, and that's the emotional effect that Mx. Sounds a bit silly, doesn't it? it's recursive: you're assuming that Frisk (at the end of "soulless pacifist" #Undertale) then goes on to have some sort of life in which Mx. what happens if they then play #Undertale? back on the Surface, with the *unhappy* version of the ending-Chara's alive again but nobody else is… What happens if we assume that a human being in Frisk's position at the end of the "soulless pacifist" run, i.e. I have a little thought experiment for #Undertale fans. ![]()
